Elite’s Guide To Dermal Fillers

Dr. Scott Sanderson

What are dermal fillers?

As we age, the fat under our skin naturally deteriorates, making the skin appear saggy and loose. This process brings facial muscles closer to the surface of the skin, which can cause wrinkles to set into the face and become more prominent.

How do dermal fillers work?

Made of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid (HA), these fillers are injected during a painless, minimally-invasive treatment that lasts just 30 minutes?max! The filler adds volume to these loose areas, plumping the skin and making it look younger. Here at Elite, we consider a client?s unique facial structure, proportions, and beauty goals to determine the best course of treatment for that specific client.

Where can filler be injected?

Dermal fillers can be injected at a variety of treatment areas.

If you?re unhappy with the lines around your nose and mouth (called nasolabial folds), filler can be administered to the cheeks, drawing this loose skin back and smoothing the area.

If you?re tired of looking angry because of a downturned mouth, filler can be injected at the corners of your lips (known as marionette lines) and you can?literally?turn your frown upside down.

If you don?t like the look of the skin beneath your chin, called the jowls, filler can be applied to this area, resulting in a smooth and youthful-looking jawline.

If you?ve noticed that the upper part of your face is looking hollow lately, filler can be placed at the temples, creating a rounded and refreshed look.

If you think that the crease between your eyebrows has soured your facial expressions, filler can smooth it out?and this treatment takes just 10 minutes!

If you?ve been distressed by the appearance of your under-eye bags, dermal filler, platelet rich plasma (PRP), or a combination of the two can be administered using a cannula, a hollow needle, to restore volume and perkiness to the area.

If you?re interested in a minimally-invasive facelift, the Vampire Facelift uses dermal filler to add volume back to the loose areas of the face, which improves the quality of the skin and drastically reduces the effects of aging.

What type of dermal filler is right for me?

At Elite, we offer two brands of dermal filler: Restylane and Dysport.

Restylane can treat volume loss in the face and hands. It can correct moderate-to-severe facial folds, and for patients over age 21, it can also be used as a lip enhancement. There are a few different types of Restylane to choose from:

Restylane Lyft, usually used to correct lines around the nose and mouth through an injection that adds volume to the cheeks.

Restylane Refyne, which is used most often to soothe lines around the lips, such as laugh or frown lines.

Restylane Silk, our favorite for correcting lines around the mouth while also increasing the volume and definition of your lips, with natural-looking results.
